Belt
(Shichikyu) |
Shichikyu level is a
Beginner Level and provides basic level of understanding and
performance of certain foundationing skills which will be refined so
they can be done with good
form (power and speed not a factor). This belt rank can usually be
achieved in 1 or 2 months of
training.

Orange
Belt (Rokukyu)
|
Rokukyu level is
considered an Intermediate Level. Will learn basic coordination
skills needed to move into a study of how to generate force in karate
techniques using Newton's 2nd and 3rd Laws of Motion. Specifically,
using body mass (the "m" in F=ma) and "action/reaction" principles.
Muscle tensity is controlled at the termination point. The focus of
study is on analysis of energy transfer. This belt rank can usually be
achieved in 2 or 4 months of training.

Green
Belt (Gokyu)
|
Gokyu Level requires the
ability to effectively apply all material in a self defense situation.
Basic Coordination skills are needed to learn how to generate force in
karate techniques using body acceleration (the "a" in
F=ma) with breath control. This belt rank can usually
be achieved in 7 to 9 months of training.

Purple
Belt (Yonkyu)
|
Yonkyu Level requires
excellent form for all techniques to prepare for learning how to
dramatically increase force through "snap" (time rate of change of the
applied force). All material must be done with smoothness,
precision, confidence with clean crisp form, good speed and sound hard
driving force taking on the characteristics of an Art Form. This belt
rank can usually be
achieved in 13 to 15 months of training.

3rd
Degree Brown Belt (Sankyu)
|
Sankyu level is considered
to be an Advanced Level and thus an important step in the students
development. There can be no doubt in the Sensei's mind or in the
students mind that total confidence in Self Defense is firmly
established. The exam for Sankyu level is a very rigorous physically
and mentally demanding exam and should only be taken by a student who
is serious and confident both in their physical ability, technical and
theoretical knowledge. This belt rank can usually be
achieved in 18 - 24 months of training.

2nd
Degree Brown Belt (Nikyu)
|
Nikyu level requires
precision, smoothness and confidence in the execution of techniques at
an Advanced Level. Technical problem solving ability is also an
essential trait that must be demonstrated. A strong understanding of
the Technical Theory and applied Application Theory is also required.
This belt rank can usually be achieved in 24 - 30
months of training.

Degree Brown Belt (Ikkyu)
|
Ikkyu level requires good
Teaching Ability, must have demonstrated a Leadership Role and must be
able to prove total capability in the Basics. This belt rank can
usually be achieved in 24 - 36 months
of training.

Pending Black
Belt (Shodan Ho)
|
Shodan Ho level is pending Black Black
Belt. Typically there is an 18 month
waiting period at Pending Level (with a minimum of 3 years in the
program) before testing for Shodan. Can usually be achieved in 2 - 3
years of training.

Certified Black Belt
(Shodan)
|
A Shodan is a 1st Degree Certified Black
Belt. Can usually be
achieved in 3 -
5 years of training. There is a 1 year waiting period
at 1st Degree Black Belt before petitioning for 2nd Degree Black Belt
(Nidan Level). |
